How do i fix my 2400mah battery? my one just stopped working and my psp switched off?
i bought the battery and it came in the morning, i came back from school and put the battery in, it worked and i saw the battery information, i connected it to the computer to put a game in and then it just switched off, i tried switching it on but it doesnt switch on, i put it on charge and the psp lights up orange but when i go to the information it just says external. i took the charger out and it switches off again. Can someone help me plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
There are a couple of things here. Sometimes batteries are shipped without a charge. You must charge them first or they may die. IOW, they reverse polarity if the voltage is too low.
The next thing is that the newer batteries, NiMH, need a “smart circuit” to determine if they when they are charged. The downside of this is that it isn’t smart enough to know when a battery is near dead if it has failed. So typically “some” circuits indicate it has failed but places a small trickle charge on the battery. It charges it enough so the circuit can detect it BUT you must remove it and put it back in so it will go through the background test again.
If the above is the case, you place the battery in the charger for about 4 hours, take it out then put it back in again. Let it charge normally to see if it works. If it doesn’t work then it is either a bad battery or a bad charger.
My guess is that it is a bad charger since this is the 2nd battery that didn’t work right… the original one and this new one you bought. So take this new battery to someone that has another PSP and see if it will work and charge there. If so, then you know the charger circuit is bad.
