Hi folks is there a way to Install custom firmware on PSP without the Jigkick battery (Pandora battery)?

Hi folks as the title suggests im trying to download custom firmware for the PSP (Phat) and i’m a little worried about hacking at my battery in order to do so. Is there any alternate way to install custom firmware onto my PSP? If not could someone give me a step by step guide on how to do so please. My PSP firmware is 4.5.
